Weekly Round-up!

Date: 14th Feb 2024 @ 11:01am

It’s been a very busy last week of term…

Year 4 had a great day at Colchester Castle on Monday where they significantly enhanced their learning about the Romans by exploring the museum and the castle. During the visit they also toured the foundations of the castle; learnt about Boudicca; constructed Roman villas and looked at lots of original artefacts and Roman treasures. Thank you to all staff and parents who helped with this trip.

Year 3 were immersed in Ancient Egyptian History throughout the day on Thursday-This was an excellent enhancement to their foundation learning in class. They enjoyed lots of hands on activities e.g. making canopic jars, carving, tomb painting, ink making and writing and perfume cone making. Thank you to all our staff and parents who helped to make this day a success.

We all enjoyed the Year 5 Enterprise morning on Friday; the whole school were very impressed to see how much Year 5 have learnt about the daily life, customs and traditions of the Tudors. Most importantly, this day gave the children a great chance to articulate their learning to adults and children across the school -outstanding leadership skills Year 5!

As many of you are aware, we were also visited by a team from Ofsted this week, and although we are presently unable to share the outcomes of the inspection, I would just like to take this opportunity to thank those parents who filled in the Parent View questionnaire. Your positive feedback really means a lot to our teaching team.

Finally, before we break for half term, I would like to remind you to look at our weekly class blogs; these are a great insight into our work in school and a valuable opportunity for you to share your child’s learning with them.

I hope you have a super break and we look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 27th February!
